Ferrari S.p.A. chose Movado Group as its global watch license partner in 2012, with a worldwide agreement covering timepieces sold under both the Ferrari and Scuderia Ferrari names. Movado's chief executive said at the time that Ferrari's Formula 1 cars and road cars would give the design team its inspiration. The first collection was slated to launch at the Basel watch fair in 2013.
Scuderia Ferrari designs tend toward big, black-dialed sport watches, with chronograph layouts and luminous pencil-shaped hands, some of them skeletonized.
