The Casio G-Shock GA-V01-9A is a bold analog-digital watch from the GA-V01 series, designed around an organic form with sharply defined edges. Its integrated bezel and band construction uses large dimensional indexes that overlap the glass and double as bumpers to absorb shocks. The standout feature is the Shock Release Hand: the minute hand is held by magnetic force instead of being fixed to the shaft, so it can absorb and dissipate impacts, and it also allows larger hands and a more daring look. The layered face combines an openwork metallic dial with a full-screen LCD, topped by spherical mineral glass. Daily functions include world time for 31 time zones, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a 24-hour countdown timer, five daily alarms, an hourly time signal and a full auto-calendar through 2099. A double LED light with Super Illuminator keeps the display readable in the dark, and a hand shift feature clears the analog hands out of the way of the digital readout. With 200-meter water resistance and a battery life of approximately 10 years.
