The Luminox brand has long been heralded for the high quality of its timepieces and their amazing features. The brand was originally developed in 1989 and it quickly became known, in part, because of its cutting- edge luminescence. Other watch companies could not compete with what is now called the Luminox Light Technology (LLT), which is self-powered illumination system that uses tiny micro gas light tubes to create excellent visibility in darkness, such as underwater. The watches glow up to 25 years in any light condition.

A couple of years later (1992) a Navy SEALs officer approached the Luminox founder, Barry Cohen, to develop timepieces specifically for the Navy SEALs. Shortly thereafter word spread and  Luminox was asked to develop watches for the U.S. Coast Guard, New York Police Department, Singapore Air Force, and more. By 1998, Luminox was making watches for the U.S. Air Force pilots who were flying the F-117 Nighthawk ™ Stealth fighter jet. The brand’s history is rich as the list of special requests continued to come in, which is one of the reasons Luminox began offering special edition watches.
